Echoes of Independence: Keeping an Inheritance
Echoes of Independence: Keeping an Inheritance
A Summer Morning Time Study
For 250 years, the idea of liberty has shaped the American story—won through sacrifice, preserved through struggle, and entrusted to each generation as an inheritance to keep.
Echoes of Independence: Keeping an Inheritance is a family morning time study created in celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial. Through story, music, poetry, art, geography, and reflection, families are invited to explore not only how liberty was won, but how it has been defined, tested, expanded, and preserved throughout the nation’s history.
This study celebrates the uniquely American voice through:
- Composer Study: Aaron Copland and the sound of the American landscape
- Poetry Study: Walt Whitman and the American voice
- Picture Study: Thomas Cole and the beauty of the American wilderness
Together, these studies help students encounter the spirit of a nation through its music, literature, and art.
Along the way, families will trace the journey from the birth of liberty through the challenges of building a nation, wrestle with the complexities of expansion and identity, and consider what it means to faithfully keep an inheritance for generations yet to come.
Included in this study:
