Picture Study
Picture Study is a gentle and beautiful way to introduce children to great art. In a Charlotte Mason education, one artist is studied over the course of a 12-week term, allowing students to become familiar with the artist’s style, subjects, and unique voice.
Each week, students observe and reflect on a single work of art, looking closely and narrating what they see. No prior art knowledge is needed—just time, attention, and quiet observation. Over time, children form a relationship with the artist and begin to recognize their work with ease and delight.
One artist per term. One painting per week. A quiet feast for the eyes and imagination.
